There is tension with South Korea
Many observers say Pyongyang feels an urgent need to beef up its air defense capabilities after North Korea last month accused South Korea of dropping disinformation material into Pyongyang. According to observers, North Korea had threatened to take military action if such material was dropped again. However, South Korea’s military declined to confirm whether it was behind the alleged drone flights.
