Farooq Abdullah urges Pakistan to stop taking part, find way for friendship with India
Srinagar . National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said that attacks like Gulmarg will continue to happen until India and Pakistan find the way to friendship. He said that if this happens, the problems of Jammu and Kashmir will end. On Thursday, terrorists ambushed an army vehicle near Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, killing two porters and two soldiers. A soldier and a porter were injured in this attack.
Abdullah told reporters, “Such attacks will continue to happen in this state.” You know where they come from and it will not stop until a way out of this problem is found. I have been seeing this for the last 30 years, innocent people are being killed.” He said, ”We are not going to be a part of Pakistan. Then why are they doing this? To ruin our future? To make us poor?” Abdullah, a former chief minister of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state, said that instead of creating problems in the Union Territory, Pakistan should focus on its own plight and work for its betterment.
He said, “Not only are they ruining themselves, they are also ruining us.” Abdullah appealed to Pakistan to stop violence and find the path of friendship with India. “If they do not find a way, the future will be very difficult,” he said. National Conference president Abdullah paid tribute to the two soldiers martyred in Thursday’s attack as well as the two porters killed. He said, “I pay tribute to those who have been martyred. I apologize to their families.
Asked if he thought Pakistan was frustrated by the record turnout in the recent assembly elections, Abdullah said he did not know what happened. He said, “People voted in the assembly elections and now the assembly will work for the people. We are hopeful that the Center will grant full statehood so that the government can work for the people.” On Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent meetings with the Prime Minister and Union ministers in Delhi, Farooq Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir is important for the smooth functioning of the government. This requires coordination with the Centre. He said, “When I was the Chief Minister, I always used to say that coordination is a good thing because everything is with them.
