Grandparents and a 14-year-old grandson died when a LPG cylinder exploded late on Thursday night in Bhakri village of Faridabad. A police spokesperson said on Friday that 55-year-old Sarjeet, resident of Bhakri village, used to run a hardware shop in the basement of his house.

At night, Sarjeet was sleeping on the first floor with his wife Babita and 14-year-old grandson Kunal. It is said that gas was leaking from the LPG cylinder and after midnight, a fire broke out and the cylinder burst.

According to the spokesperson, the roof of Sarjit’s house collapsed due to the cylinder explosion and he, his wife and grandson were buried under the debris. Neighbors informed the police. After about an hour, the debris was removed and all three were taken out, but by then they had lost their lives.

According to the police, due to the explosion, the roof of the house adjacent to Sarjit’s also collapsed and three people got injured by getting buried under the debris. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Police have registered the case and are investigating.
