Ice water froze in Jammu and Kashmir

Cold wave will continue in North Indian states for the coming five days. At the same time, the cold wave is expected to continue in the central Indian states for the next three days. However, even if the cold wave stops, the chances of the cold reducing are slim. If the wind speed decreases, there is a possibility of fog falling and melting increasing.

There are chances of heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the coming days. Orange alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu, while yellow alert has been issued for parts of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Fog is falling in states like Meghalaya and Odisha. Due to this, normal life is being affected. In the coming days, the effect of fog may also be seen in North and Central Indian states.

Delhi’s air is bad

The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Sunday was 4.9 degrees Celsius, but cold wave conditions have not yet arisen. According to the data of India Meteorological Department (IMD), no cold wave situation was created. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Sunday reached 4.9 degrees Celsius, which was 3.1 degrees less than the normal night temperature. Earlier on Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at eight degrees Celsius.

IMD said that the maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Sunday was 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was 0.2 degrees less than normal. Also the humidity level remained between 91 to 45 percent. IMD has predicted moderate fog on Monday and the maximum temperature is expected to be 23 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be five degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 294 at 4 pm, which falls in the ‘poor’ category.

Cold wave outbreak in Punjab and Haryana

Cold wave continued in Punjab and Haryana on Sunday with Faridkot being the coldest place in the region where the minimum temperature was recorded at one degree Celsius. The Meteorological Department gave this information. The nights remained cold in Gurdaspur and Bathinda of Punjab also. The minimum temperature was recorded at two degrees Celsius in Gurdaspur and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Bathinda. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Pathankot was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius while in Amritsar it was 3.9 degrees Celsius. According to the department, the minimum temperature in Ludhiana was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius while in Patiala the mercury dropped to 3.8 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department said that the minimum temperature in Hisar, Haryana was recorded at 1.7 degrees Celsius while in Narnaul the minimum temperature was recorded at three degrees Celsius. Bhiwani is also experiencing severe cold where the minimum temperature was recorded at four degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature in Gurugram was recorded at 5.6 degrees Celsius. The department said that the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.2 degrees Celsius in Rohtak and 5.7 degrees Celsius in Ambala. Chandigarh, the common capital of Haryana and Punjab, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius.

Relief from severe cold wave in Kashmir

There has been some relief from the cold wave in Kashmir due to the increase in minimum temperature in the valley. However it remains below the freezing point. Meteorological Department officials gave this information on Sunday. The Meteorological Department said that the minimum temperature in the summer capital Srinagar was recorded at minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, which is better than the previous night’s minus 4.6 degrees Celsius. It said the minimum temperature in Gulmarg, a popular tourist spot for skiing, was recorded at 3.8 degrees Celsius, an increase of about four degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Pahalgam, the base camp of the annual Amarnath Yatra, was recorded at minus 4.8 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees higher than the previous night. Konnibal Valley on the outskirts of Pampore city was the coldest place, with the mercury dropping to minus 5.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was minus 4.0 degrees Celsius in Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, 3.7 degrees Celsius in North Kashmir’s Kupwara and 2.8 degrees Celsius in South Kashmir’s Kokernag. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain mainly dry till December 21. However, the minimum temperature is expected to drop further in the valley during the next three days and cold wave is expected to prevail at many places.
