PV Sindhu has performed strongly in the Syed Modi International Super 300 Badminton Tournament. They have made it to the second round by winning the first round match. Sindhu defeated emerging shuttler Anmol Kharb 21-17, 21-15 and did not give her any chance in the match. Now returning to the tournament after two years, Sindhu will face compatriot Ira Sharma, who defeated Deepshikha Singh 21-13, 21-19 in the opening match. In the men’s category, Lakshya Sen has also been successful in winning his match.

PV Sindhu was elated after the victory

PV Sindhu said after the victory that I am happy to return here after two years. I couldn’t play last year due to injury but it feels good to play on home soil again. I was playing against Anmol for the first time and he played well. We both have played together in the Asian Team Championship so I was confident. It was my first match and I made some mistakes but I am happy with my performance.

Lakshya Sen won the match

World Championship 2021 bronze medalist Lakshya Sen defeated qualifier Sholeh Aidil of Malaysia 21-12, 21-12. Lakshya will face the winner of the match between Ravi and Israel’s Daniil Dubovenko. After the match, Lakshya said that it is always good to play in front of the home crowd. I have played here before but right now my focus is on the next match. My aim is to perform well in the BWF tournament and World Championship.

In women’s singles, second seed Malvika Bansod, fifth seed Anupama Upadhyay, Isharani Barua, Devika Sihag, Unnati Hooda, Tasneem Mir and Shriyanshi Valishetty were also successful in making it to the next round. Malvika defeated Victoria Dabaksinka 21-16, 21-7 while Anupama defeated Kesha Fatima Azahra of Azerbaijan 19-21, 22-20, 21-15. Whereas Unnati defeated Thamonwan Nithitikarai of Thailand 21-12, 21-16.
