The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a factory producing illegal mephedrone in the tribal-dominated Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh and arrested four people, including the director of this unit.
A DRI official gave this information on Sunday. The officer said that drugs with an estimated value of Rs 168 crore have been seized from the factory. He told that this factory being operated in Meghnagar industrial area was investigated in the early hours of Saturday on the information of an informer.
The official said that 36 kg of Mephedrone powder and 76 kg of liquid Mephedrone along with raw materials and equipment have been seized from this factory under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). He said that the unit has been sealed.
The official said that the value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs 168 crore. He said that the samples taken from the factory were tested by a forensic science laboratory which confirmed the presence of Mephedrone.
Gujarat Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 5 had busted a drug factory in the state capital Bhopal from where 907.09 kg of mephedrone was seized, whose estimated value is Rs 1,814 crore.
