Kailash Gehlot Quits AAP. Kailash Gehlot raised questions on the direction and condition of Aam Aadmi Party

Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback. Veteran leader Kailash Gehlot has left the party. He resigned from the primary membership of the party by writing a letter to Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday. Along with this, he also resigned from the Council of Ministers of GNCTD. He was holding the post of Minister of Transport, Administrative Reforms, Information and Technology, Home and Women and Child Development in the Delhi Government.

In his letter to Kejriwal, Kailash Gehlot has raised questions on the direction and condition of the Aam Aadmi Party. He wrote in his letter, ‘Today the Aam Aadmi Party faces serious challenges. Internal challenges, in the face of the same values that brought us to AAP. Political ambitions have overshadowed our commitment to the people, leaving many promises unfulfilled. Take Yamuna for example, which we promised to convert into a clean river, but could never do. Now the Yamuna river has perhaps become more polluted than before.

Raising the issue of Sheesh Mahal, Gehlot said that now there are many shameful and strange controversies like ‘Sheesh Mahal’, which are now putting everyone in doubt whether we still believe in being a common man.

Gehlot accused the Aam Aadmi Party of fighting for his political agenda. He wrote, ‘Instead of fighting for the rights of the people, we are only fighting for our political agenda. It has also severely weakened our ability to provide basic services to the people of Delhi. It is now clear that real development of Delhi cannot happen if the Delhi government spends most of its time fighting the Centre.

In the end he wrote, ‘I started my political journey with a commitment to serve the people of Delhi and I want to continue it. That is why I have no option left but to separate from AAP and hence I am resigning from the primary membership of Aam Aadmi Party.
